Q. Why should I employ a professional videographer to record my wedding. Uncle Fred has a good camcorder and I’ve seen his holiday films?

A. We have all had to sit through Uncle Fred’s three hour un-edited shaky videos with inaudible sound and tried to stay awake. He will want to enjoy himself at your wedding, not be tied to a video camera. Professional videographers use tripods to steady the camera and separate microphones to record clear sound. A well produced wedding film is the perfect way to capture the atmosphere of your day and tell your wedding story. It is something to treasure and will bring a tear to your eye as you re-live your special day.

Q. Is Videography your full-time job?

A. Magical Moments is a husband and wife team and it is our only job. Editing a wedding video is a time consuming but rewarding task. It takes at least 40 hours of post production work to complete your wedding film.

Q. Do you have any professional qualifications?

A. Glyn is an Associate Member of the Institute of Videography (A.M.Inst.V.) and we use their standard contract and terms and conditions. They also have an arbitration service in the unlikely event of any dispute.

Q. How long will I have to wait for my wedding film?

A. We say no more than six weeks after the wedding, but usually about four weeks. Some wedding video companies take up to six months to complete  a wedding film - we do not believe you should have to wait anywhere near that long.

Q. How long will my wedding film last?

A. This depends on the type of wedding film you have requested. If you have a “Short Form Edit” it  will last between 20 mins and 30 mins. A full wedding film will last between 90 mins and two hours depending on what extras you have requested. With the “Short Form”  version we supply the ceremony and speeches in full  on a separate disc.

Q. I like the style of your online show reel but I would like to see more.

A. Contact us and we will either let you have a copy of the showreel or  a complete wedding on DVD. We believe that you should see a complete wedding film before booking any videographer.

Q. We have met you when we booked, but who will actually film our wedding?

A. We do not sub-contract. You met Glyn and Pam when you booked and they will be working for you on the day.

Q. Why will you use two or more cameras to record our wedding?

A. With two cameras (and usually more) the camera’s viewpoint can be varied. It is very boring to have the one continuous shot for any length of time. Look at a TV programme and see how often the camera view changes.

Q. Why do you film in high definition?

A. High definition (HD) gives extremely sharp and detailed pictures as each image contains about four times the information of standard definition (SD). DVD players cannot play HD discs, a “Blu-ray” player is required. We edit your wedding in HD and only convert our HD master tapes to SD before we make your DVDs. We promise to keep the HD image on our computers for at least 12 months after your wedding and can supply you with a Blu-ray disc at an additional cost of £150 during that time.

Q. What if your camera breaks down during my wedding?

A. All our equipment is modern but we always have a spare camera and sound equipment with us just in case.

Q. Will you attend my rehearsal?

A. Yes, if it is possible and especially if we have not visited your venue before. We think it is very important to meet the wedding official and your family before the day.

Q. Do You hold the relevant licences?

A. Yes, we hold both of the relevant licences and each copy of your DVD will have a copy of the licence attached to it’s case.

Q. How will you be dressed at my wedding?

A. We will be dressed in suits, our aim is to blend in with your guests.

Q. If I send you photographs and CDs will I get them back?

A. Yes, we will let you have them back as soon as we have put them on our computer, often before the wedding.

Q. When do I have to pay for my wedding film?

A. We require a £150 booking fee when you book and the balance at least ten days before the wedding. The booking fee is non-refundable unless we manage to get a replacement booking on that date. We give you two copies of our contract which contains our terms and conditions. You sign one copy and return it to us with your payment of our booking fee; that date is then guaranteed for you.

Q. I want my wedding recording, will the Minister or Official allow it and will they place any restrictions on where the camera crew can stand?

A. It is your responsibility to check this, and best before you book. You will have to pay any fees they may require. We are members of the Church Wedding Filming Society and follow their code of conduct. We can supply a copy of this or a web site link so that your vicar can see that we will act professionally and responsibly within his church.

Q. I have read all that you have said but I still think Uncle Fred could do a good job, but I am not so sure he could edit it?

A. We are always happy to edit footage that we have not taken. Similarly we would be happy to let you have the raw footage from your wedding if you, or a friend, wanted to edit it. Ask us for an individual quote. We can also add your own honeymoon video into the final DVD.
